The Bahamas is one of the world’s most popular vacation destinations – and as COVID-19 travel regulations ease, tourist numbers are rising month-by-month.
Each month, the Bahamas is attracting more vacationers, with 64,047 tourists in April 2021, more than double from two months earlier, according to the latest figures announced by Tourism Minister Dionisio D’Aguila. Since the new ease for vaccinated travelers, the number of applications to visit has increased to up to 5000 per day.
Here is an update on the latest travel regulations for both vaccinated and unvaccinated tourists visiting the Bahamas as of 1 May 2021:
Step 1- Testing requirements
For those who have been vaccinated
· Foreign travelers who have been fully vaccinated and have passed the two-week immunity period, are exempt from COVID-19 testing requirements.
· A citizen or resident of the Bahamas who is fully vaccinated is exempt from testing when traveling inter-island from New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco, Exuma and Eleuthera.
For those who have not been vaccinated
· Unvaccinated travelers coming into the Bahamas or traveling inter-island from Nassau & Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island, Abaco, Exuma, and Eleuthera must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken no more than five days before arriving.
· Children who are aged 10 and under, pilots and crew of commercial airlines who stay overnight do not have to take a test.
· The negative test results must be uploaded to complete a Bahamas Travel Health Visa and must be shown on arrival in the Bahamas.
Step 2- Bahamas Travel Health Visa Application
For those who have been vaccinated
· Travelers are required to upload proof of vaccination (either US-CDC or government-issued vaccine record card).
· International travelers’ proof of vaccination must show that they have passed the two-week immunity period.
· Only vaccinations from Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and AstraZeneca will be currently accepted.
For those who have not been vaccinated
· Travelers must upload their negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken no more than five days before arrival.
· A citizen or resident of the Bahamas planning to travel abroad for five days or less must have a test in the destination they visited before traveling back to the island.
For all travelers
· As part of the Travel Health Visa, travelers are required to opt into COVID-19 health insurance for their stay, which is included in the application cost of the Visa.
· The Bahamas Travel Health Visa will take up to 48 hours to process.
· Travelers who are 18 and older must complete their own Travel Health Visa.
