Branding your Vacation Rental

Building a brand for your vacation rental helps identify and separate your Bahamas property from others.

Now the industry is taking off again, with international tourism in the Bahamas opening up from 1 July, it is an ideal time for owners to take a fresh look at their vacation rental branding.

Vacation rental branding involves the creation of a distinct name, logo, design, and other elements that identify your property, make it different from others and that help form a strategy to give you an edge.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, vacation rental owners may want to consider how their branding and strategy addresses spaciousness, safety, and security, which are now much more important to guests, says vacation rental management specialist, Caribnb.

Here are some essential vacation rental branding elements to consider:

Property name

The name of your property may be well-established with a strong brand-recognition, so it would be best to keep it, but if you have a new property or one that needs updating, think about titles that are unique, memorable, and distinctive. You might base the name around a geographical or historic reference or a unique feature of your home. Once you have a list of options, carry out an internet search to ensure there is no other similarly-named property nearby.

Colours

Revisit your brand colours to emphasize the light and bright colours, indicating positivity. If you can, include colours that hint at your place or identity. For instance, If your vacation rental is by the sea, you might want to include a turquoise or blue element to symbolize water.

Fonts

Settle on a font for your logo, website, and other marketing material. Sans-serif fonts – those without ‘sticks’ on the edges – are ‘friendlier’ and easier-to-read than serif fonts, which are more formal and business-like, so maybe more appropriate in a post-COVID environment. Sans fonts are also easier to read when on a background of a contrasting colour.

Logos

Your logo should be simple, memorable, easy to read, and appropriate. Even if you currently have a logo, you can keep the same basic elements and refresh and evolve it using updated fonts and design to make it even more effective and noticeable in a post-COVID-19 market.

Positioning statement

By creating a positioning statement, you define your business in just one or two lines. This is a summary that might include your type of rental, special services, unique selling points, and target audience. Your positioning statement helps you focus on what is important for your Bahamas property rental business.

Post-COVID brand values

Following COVID-19, you may want to promote those services aspects of your property that emphasize space and privacy, cleanliness, safety, and security and to highlight them in your brand values and marketing.
