1) Downtown museums and Queens Staircase
Whatever your interests, you are likely to find a museum that will appeal to you in Nassau – and many offer free admission. They range from museums focused on history, art, and culture to a museum dedicated to pirates. Another free attraction is the Queen's Staircase at Elizabeth Avenue South in the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex, which is also known as the 66 steps, is a major landmark. It was built from limestone by slaves in the 1790s and was later named in honor of Queen Victoria. Actually, there are only 65 steps visible, as the bottom one is covered with asphalt.
2) Atlantis aquarium snorkelling
Embark on an unforgettable adventure, exploring the ruins inspired by tales of the lost city of Atlantis. The hour-long program includes 30-minutes snorkeling among the Ruins Lagoon at Atlantis Paradise Island, which is home to more than 20,000 fish in a 2.7 million gallon tank. This is not available to children under eight and those under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
3) Eat a conch salad at Fish Fry
The Arawak Cay area is known as Fish Fry due to the number of restaurants in the area. Among the delicious choice of Bahamian dishes served up to hungry diners is Conch Salad. As well as salty conch meat, it often contains onions, tomatoes, and peppers.
4) Savour a coffee at Louis & Steens
Enjoy a quality cup of coffee as you listen to relaxing jazz and admire the stunning ocean view. It’s all available at Louis & Steen's New Orleans Coffeehouse, the Bahamas' first specialty coffeehouse. Want something to eat? Then pair the coffee with a tasty Cajun-Creole delight.
5) Snorkelling at Clifton heritage national park
Another wonderful snorkeling adventure can be had at Clifton Heritage Park, where you can swim among the diverse marine life and underwater statues. You can choose from self-guided or all-inclusive snorkeling tours. At the park, you can also tour the remains of Lucayan villages and plantations and see where Jaws and Bond movies were shot.
